surrounding Det 2's operations building

Det 2's motor pool area. Snow shoveling was limited to essential areas.
Notice the walk path used to get from building to building. Snow weasels
were the primary means of raveling on roads.

French mission house not far from the Wakkanai AS main gate.

This house was built to the minimum Japanese standards to meet
Wakkanai's severe winter weather conditions. Straw and hay was strung
along the exterior of the house to help insulate the occupants from
the wind and snow.

that Capt Spolarich and I provided this mission.
